In Honor of Hispanic, Latinx & Chicanx Educators

Learn from Yuridiana Lewis, Concepción Camargo, Edgar Palacios, Jorge Luis Armenta, Juan Espinosa, Dr. Madeline Negrón and Nancy Bernardino, whose inspiring journeys and insights are helping create a more diverse and inclusive teaching force nationwide.

For Hispanic Heritage Month, we want to honor the stories of educators with Spanish, Mexican, Caribbean, Central American and South American heritage who bring vision to their schools across the U.S.

These educators believe that teaching is a call to action—and prove that their unique backgrounds, experiences and skills can change lives.

  • What We're Doing

For Hispanic Heritage Month, we want to honor the stories of educators with Spanish, Mexican, Caribbean, Central American and South American heritage who bring vision to their schools across the U.S.

These educators believe that teaching is a call to action—and prove that their unique backgrounds, experiences and skills can change lives.

  • Why We're Doing It

These teachers help students identify with a larger community and envision themselves in positions of authority.

In schools, the power of representation, of mirroring students' belief systems and cultural identities, is in abolishing negative stereotypes and generating positive life experiences for Hispanic, Latinx and Chicanx individuals.

  • Why You Should, Too

As a teacher, you can represent your community and shape positive life experiences daily for your students.

And if you speak a language other than English, the huge need for bilingual educators makes it more compelling than ever to seek out a position in the classroom.

Join the Campaign

The more people who understand the challenges and opportunities for Hispanic, Latinx and Chicanx educators, the better. We're making it easy to make an impact:

  1. Share this page with friends and family. (The share buttons make it especially easy, but copying and pasting the URL has never been too hard, either.)
  2. Tell us on social media how you're celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month.
  3. Follow @TEACHorg on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter to discover more stories and ways to get involved.

Together, we can improve education for everybody. Thank you for joining the movement!
