Every student deserves an excellent education. And research shows that the teacher is the most important in-school factor contributing to a student’s success. But, schools in North Carolina are facing a dramatic shortage of teachers due to a 30% decline in enrollment at public teacher training programs.

To address the critical need for teachers in North Carolina, the state Department of Public Instruction, BEST NC, school districts, universities and teacher training programs have come together to launch a new initiative called TeachNC.

As part of this effort, TeachNC has developed a series of compelling PSAs that highlight the creativity and problem-solving teachers use every day. The PSA ends with an invitation to learn more about teaching in North Carolina at TeachNC.org, a one-stop-shop where individuals can explore whether teaching is a good fit for them, find a North Carolina training program and a job in a local school.

TeachNC, in partnership with the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI), BEST NC and TEACH.org, was created to assist anyone considering teaching in North Carolina.

TeachNC, in partnership with the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI), BEST NC and TEACH.org, was created to assist anyone considering teaching in North Carolina. As a statewide teacher recruitment initiative, TeachNC employs both a broad media campaign and a robust web platform to support teacher candidates in their quest to become a teacher. Popular services include free 1-on-1 coaching, teaching application checklists, fee reimbursements, end-to-end guides, and a scholarship database.
