Beaufort County Schools

Our district is home to 14 schools which serve more than 6,000 students in scenic Beaufort County. We are located on the Pamlico Sound and are within an hour of the Crystal Coast or the Outer Banks. Nearly 1,000 staff make up the Beaufort County Schools Team. Every staff member, regardless of his or her job title, share a common goal—the education of our students.

Beaufort County Schools endeavors to offer its educators opportunities for professional growth and advancement. You may become a grade-level chair, a school improvement team member or a mentor to beginning teachers. No matter what, you are part of a community of parents, businesses and elected leaders that support and encourage our schools daily.

Beaufort County Schools has a local salary supplement in addition to the state salary supplement. In addition, we offer a $1,000 signing bonus for the teaching areas of Middle Grades ELA and Math, High School Science and Math and K-12 Exceptional Children's teachers.

We offer a Beginning Teacher Support Program that includes mentors who help new teachers navigate the district and its curriculum and protocols.

Washington High School currently incorporates an elective Teacher Cadet course that allows high school students to explore the possibility of joining the ranks as educators in the future.
