Brunswick County Schools values the Teacher Voice. Uniquely, the teachers of the year from each school serve on a Teacher Advisory Council that meets monthly with the Superintendent, his cabinet and board members. This ensures that questions or concerns are heard and addressed. Our digital resources and support are outstanding! Our strong Instructional Technology department helped us navigate remote/hybrid learning better than many other districts. Plus, who doesn’t want to live at the beach?

Why I Teach

I believe that teaching positions me in a space where history, a great joy of mine, can be used to meet a great need in this world. Now, more than ever, our country needs citizens who can critically evaluate information, take informed action, and show greater empathy having better understood the experiences of others. Teaching history is what I do. History fascinates me and it has since I was a child. But the notion of launching students into our fragile democratic society, equipped to actively participate in and strengthen that society, is why I do it.
