Hear from DeLana Parker about touching lives and teamwork at Buncombe County Schools
Meet DeLana Parker
Teacher Ambassador
Teaching is one of the most difficult jobs and, without teamwork and a sense of family among educators, the job is made exponentially more difficult. Even after years as a teacher to hundreds of children, I still have a lot to learn and I love sharing ideas and getting new ideas from fellow teachers. Buncombe County provides all of that through professional development opportunities and the effort they put into showing how much they value their educators.

Why I Teach
One of my favorite things about being a teacher is the ability to touch lives and to serve as a positive role model in a world where positivity is desperately needed. Even better is the feeling that I am creating more positive role models in my students. They know that I have their backs no matter what and that the relationships we build come before anything else. I pride myself on truly knowing my students because I feel like, only through those relationships and the respect they create can real learning occur.
