Elizabeth City-Pasquotank Public Schools provides instructional support for teachers through school-level and district-level coaches. The coaches model lessons and mentor as well as provide instructional resources. They also guide and support teachers in providing quality instruction. We have a strong beginning teacher support program in place and a coordinator who ensures the teachers have appropriate resources and professional development that is designed specifically for beginning teachers. Elizabeth City-Pasquotank Public Schools offers a virtual reality classroom for new teachers to practice classroom management skills. Additionally, we are in the beginning steps of implementing a video platform for beginning teachers to reflect on classroom practices.  Elizabeth City-Pasquotank Public Schools partners with East Carolina University for the Latham Clinical Schools Network. This network brings districts throughout our region and state together to discuss the latest topics and trends. By participating in this network, we are kept abreast of legislation and related matters regarding education. Professional development is crucial to supporting teachers and providing current and relevant information for effective instruction. We are highly focused on social and emotional support not only for our staff, but for students as well. With the reshaping of instructional practices that has taken place this past year, we have redefined professional development to prioritize online teaching and learning so we can effectively reach all students, in-person or virtual.

Elizabeth City-Pasquotank Public Schools recognizes the challenges of employing educators to fill certain positions that are necessary to meet the needs of students. In an effort to attract and recruit teachers in the areas of math, science and Exceptional Children, we currently offer an additional stipend.
