Meet Jessica Nicholson Bland
Teacher Ambassador
I have been teaching in Nash County for seventeen years! When I came here as a student teacher, I found it was a place that welcomed me with open arms, with patience as a new teacher, and with support as I began the journey in education. I felt confident that it would be a great place to start my career in education and seventeen years later I know I made the right decision. The people I work with every day make it a great place to work. Bailey Elementary is more than work...we are family.

Why I Teach
I love superheroes! Who would not want to have the powers of Wonder Woman or the strength of the Hulk? Teaching is being a superhero to children every day! The students are speechlessly amazed to see you out in public; superheroes don’t really go to Walmart. They point and stare in sheer amazement to think you visit the Piggly Wiggly because no one expects to see Superman picking out something for dinner. I believe that every day my students walk into my classroom and believe I can make miracles happen! They see a superhero cape on me that some days I don't see on myself. Every day I strive to not only be what they see but to empower them to see the cape of superpower they each wear as well. I may never fly, move mountains, or defeat the villains, but you could never convince my students that if they needed me to that I could not. They believe in my superpowers and I believe in theirs.
