Richmond County is a rural area located in the Sandhills of North Carolina. The district is home to 7,355 students and services these students at fifteen schools. There are seven elementary, four middle, an early college, a 9th grade academy and a high school. We have a wonderful educational community that prides itself on professional development and educational success. Richmond County is first in our region in student growth. This means we meet our students where they need help and deliver high quality instruction that helps them to grow and find the educational success they deserve.

Our district is committed to growing teachers professionally. Once a teacher becomes an employee of Richmond County Schools, we train them in the new teacher evaluation model. We also help them complete the paperwork process for beginning teachers. Once this is finished, our Beginning Teacher Coordinator resources that each month a BT meeting is held to cover topics of interest that promote professional growth.

During the school year, the district conducts at least four days of professional development to speed up the learning curve for all teachers. It is to our advantage to have a highly trained professional staff, so a great deal of time and energy is directed toward growing our teachers

Richmond County Schools provides a Teacher Cadet program for students in the 11th and 12th grades. This program is geared towards students interested in going into the area of teaching. These students participate in two classes and are allowed to observe classes in our district.

Along with the NC Public Schools state salary, Richmond County Schools offers yearly supplements to all certified teachers based on years of experience. We also offer several optional flexible benefits as well as a free life insurance policy of $10,000.
