Students have opportunities to participate in an internship/practicum in which they spend 90 hours in a classroom working with students in their specific content area prior to a 15-week student teaching experience and/or capstone project.

Appalachian prepares students to work with diverse populations of students through varied coursework and practice in the field.

Students work closely with their clinical instructor and program advisor throughout their program. Coursework is taught by experienced and connected professors at Appalachian.

Programs are accredited under NCATE (and specialized program accreditations in some cases) and are state-approved by NCDPI. The college partners with area school districts and values input from these partners and from students and alumni. Input, feedback, and data are shared and used to continuously improve programs.
