Founded in 1834, Wake Forest University is a private university in Winston-Salem, N.C. with more than 8,000 students. The undergraduate population hails from 49 states and more than 50 foreign countries.

Wake Forest provides the financial resources needed for enrollment by a socio-economically, ethnically and geographically diverse student body. Our motto, pro humanitate (for humanity), is a calling to use our knowledge, talents, and compassion to better the lives of others. 

Teacher preparation programs are available at both the undergraduate and the graduate level, and in both elementary and secondary teaching. Undergraduates can select the Elementary Education major.  Students are interested in secondary education major in their content area (English, math, science or social studies/history) and minor in Education. Candidates are eligible for the teaching license.

At the graduate level, programs are offered for elementary or secondary education. Graduate students come with an undergraduate degree in a secondary content area or a field related to elementary teaching. Candidates complete coursework and fieldwork and earn a teaching license and master’s degree.
